After a standout 11-2-2 season that ended in the Nassau County A Finals, Lawrence High School's boys’ soccer team is back with a younger lineup and a renewed focus on defense. Coach Gerard Lagasse, known for his defensive-minded philosophy, is leaning on returning seniors like goalie Gabriel Rosales—whom he calls one of Long Island's top five keepers—and midfielder Corvin Pocasangre, who led the team in offensive production last season.

The Golden Tornadoes graduated seven starters, including All-State center-back Ben Perez and defensive midfielder Alex Samayoa. Replacements like senior Nelson Martinez and sophomore Diego Hinojosa will be key in maintaining the team’s defensive strength.

Lagasse expects big contributions from seniors Jeremy Cruz and Andrew Rosales, and believes that if everything clicks, Lawrence will be in the mix for the conference title again alongside North Shore and Locust Valley.
