Music Department
Congratulations to Naraya Robinson, Arbi Corbita, Sergio Escalante and Hector Munoz for their acceptance and participation into the top division All County Chorus , Band and Orchestra. They worked with nationally renowned university professors and performed at the Tilles Performing Arts Center at CW POST at Long Island University last weekend. The ensembles were amazing and sounded like college level performances. These Lawrence students represent some of top musical performers in Nassau County. In addition, Naraya Robinson was selected as the soloist in one of the pieces after beating out several other highly qualified students who auditioned. Congratulations to our LHS All County musicians!
Girls Basketball
Story Time... no we did not win our game this weekend against Friends Academy, but the growth we have seen is worth mentioning. We have a designated shooter in Ava who has also been forced to play point guard for much of the season. If you were not aware she is currently ranked 23rd in Nassau County overall, 3rd in 3 pointers made with 36 (another 4 made this weekend.) Ava is not the only success story we have Yaslin our co-captain that was been pulling down double digit rebounds all season long. We have Elyse who came up huge in this last game scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds... as a freshman that is huge deal...our future is bright!!! We got very solid minutes from some JV players playing up Layla's and Autymn's aggressiveness, have helped tremendously!!! Very solid minutes also from Valerie, Analeigh, Zion, Kioney, and welcome back Priscilla!!! We are on the come up!!! Although the season is far from over, we are excited about the future of Lawrence Girls Basketball as we currently have no seniors only a few juniors, a few sophomores, and a whole lot of Freshies!!! Although the win/loss column does not show it yet, us coaches are extremely proud of the growth we have seen in our players... Frier out!!!
Asian American Club
There will be an Asian American Club meeting this afternoon directly after school in Room 322
Please join the Asian American Club Tomorrow, January 28th , as we celebrate the Lunar New Year. The Asian American club will be selling fortune cookies and will be involved in other festivities.
Key Club
Good morning Lawrence. This will be the last week that the Key Club will be collecting coats, gloves, hats and scarves for our community. If you have any used items that are in good condition and clean, please share to help people in need keep warm this winter. Any questions please see MR. Ziff or Mr. Ravo. There is a bin in the main lobby for collections.
Pizza Tuesday
The PTA will be selling Pizza after school tomorrow. $2.00 a slice.
