LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (MARCH 2024)— Lawrence Elementary School recently held a “White House Reception” event, an interactive and creative program where students delved into the lives of United States Presidents and first ladies The event aimed to enhance students’ understanding of American history and leadership through immersive research and presentations.

The program began with reading biographies and articles about their selected Presidents and first ladies. Students meticulously documented key events and personal reflections in diaries, adopting a first-person perspective to immersive themselves in the lives of their subjects. To bring their research to life, they even arrived at school dressed as their researched leaders, exuding enthusiasm and authenticity in their portrayals! Additionally, each student delivered a captivating speech to their classmate, showcasing their knowledge and understanding of the significant moments in the lives of presidents and first ladies they studied.

The White House Reception at Lawrence Elementary School provided a platform for students to engage in historical exploration, public speaking, and character immersion. Through this project, the students not only honed their research skills but also developed a deeper appreciation for the contributions and legacies of past leaders.
