Lawrence Elementary School Learns About Responsible Social Media Use

LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (DECEMBER 2023)—Lawrence Elementary School successfully collaborated with the Nassau County Police Department in educating its students about responsible social media use. The presentation at a recent assembly was aimed at equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

“We believe that educating our students about responsible social media use is essential in today’s digital landscape,” said Jacqueline Beckmann, Principal of Lawrence Elementary School. “Thank you to the Nassau County police officers who provided our students with valuable insights and practical strategies to navigate the online world safely.”

The assembly covered various aspects of responsible social media use. Students were informed of the potential risks and consequences of inappropriate online behavior, such as cyberbullying, sharing personal information, and engaging with strangers. They were also taught strategies to protect their privacy and maintain a positive digital footprint.
